Charter Fishing on the Oregon Coast

NW Oregon Outfitters offers a variety of guided trips on the mighty Pacific Ocean. Choose from: bottom fish, salmon, halibut, tuna, surf perch, stripped bass and crabbing.

Charter fishing, also known as Ocean or Deep-Sea fishing, takes tourists out on the water for an amazing fishing experience. In this instance, we're talking about the Pacific Ocean, on the Oregon coast. Charter fishing is a great time to bond with family members, co-workers, or friends. So consider bringing someone with you.

Our experienced crew not only offers guide service, but also friendly hospitality, safety, and fun! We want to make sure you go home with fish and experience the best charter fishing trip you can recall ever having. Join your guide, Ted Jones, and his crew, in a Pacific Ocean fishing trip and see why people come back again and again.

"Ted is a very professional guide, nice boat, good gear and he uses his knowledge to give you your best shot at catching fish. This is how memories are made! I will be fishing with Northwest Oregon Outfitters and Ted many more times!" ~DNelsun

Our fishing charter begins at Winchester Bay, on the Oregon coast, at daylight and ends around 1 pm. Reserve your spot in advance to make sure you get your choice of days for your adventure in coast fishing.

Winchester Bay is at the mouth of the Umpqua River, where it empties into the Pacific Ocean. It's the ideal spot because fish are bountiful. They seem to be waiting for you to drop your line in the water! Tuna or Halibut are longer charter trips.

How to Prepare for a Charter Fishing Trip

A huge part of making your first charter a success is planning ahead and setting expectations with your captain. No two trips are the same. Your first time out on the water may look very different from someone else’s. If you're a seasoned fisherman, it doesn't hurt to be reminded of things to bring.

Equipment is provided (rods, reels, bait & tackle), but clients are responsible for getting their own fishing licenses/tags.

Your clothing will depend on the season and location, but a few things are essential. Rubber-soled sneakers and layered clothing (jacket, windbreaker, rain gear made with material that dries quickly). You will also want to bring food, drinks, sunscreen, sunglasses, Dramamine if you get sea sick, camera or cell phone, and most importantly, a cooler for all the fish you'll bring home!!

After Your Coast Fishing Trip

While you're in the Winchester Bay area, you might want to catch some other activities: check out the Umpqua Lighthouse, rent a dune buggy or ATVs and go out on the dunes, whale watching, and so much more. You'll probably want to stay a couple of days to experience it all.

Fishing Memories

When it's all said and done, an excellent fishing experience is all about the things you’ll learn, and the laughs and stories you’ll share. You will always remember your fist time out on the ocean, but since every trip is different, you will bring away many memories of each charter fishing trip on the Oregon coast.
